Overall this is a good book and it does give useful tips and tricks, but it is lacking in certain areas of description.House plants are having a moment. On page twenty-four, the page explaining the needs of an alocasia, Sibley says, “.this plant enjoys a bright but indirect sunlight,” but, many beginners don’t know whether that is near a gentle south facing window or in the corner of a room with harsh western lighting, which I’ve found is the difference between life and death for a plant. There are also many times when the author says that a plant needs bright, indirect light, without explaining in detail what that might look like which is confusing to a beginner. For example, Sibley doesn’t explain different directions of lighting and what direction of lighting suits each plant, which is very important. While the book had a lot of useful information there were some topic that weren’t covered as much as they should have been and leave the reader feeling a bit confused.
